Ten students from the Vancouver (Kingsway) based DSA Royal International Taekwon-do club competed recently in the Canadian National Tournament held in Calgary.
They fought valiantly and won 18 medals, including 7 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The big winner this year was Manuel Darson Andaya with two gold medals for pattern and sparring. Raymond Aglubat won his first gold for sparring.
Dana Andaya, Ezekiel Pestano, Edgar De Guzman and Roanna Deguzman also retained their titles as Canadian Champions.
Eleazar Pestano, Eezaiah Pestano, and Roni Deguzman also came back with silver and/or bronze for their efforts. “Everybody came back a winner and in good health,” said Darius Andaya, the head instructor who is originally from the Philippines.
